Tasting Notes

  • Colour: Bright gold yellow with straw yellow tints.
  • Nose: Very elegant with a quintessence of tropical fruits, peach and white flower aromas, with a hint of vanilla and toasted bread.
  • Palate: Fresh and mellow with a persistent length on fruity notes.
  • Cellaring: In the first five years you will enjoy its fruit aromas which will then turn into more mature aromas. It will age well for the next 4 years when kept in good cellaring conditions.
  • Food pairing: Best served at 10 to 12°C with seafood and fish dishes, delicious with sushi, white meats, blue cheeses, and fruit desserts. This wine will also be very enjoyable on its own as a relaxing drink.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested at night to avoid any oxidation. The grapes are destemmed and undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration (10°C). Fermentation then takes place between 24 and 28°C. The malolactic fermentation and the maturation are carried out partly in barrels and partly in tanks.

A lovely match with leftover chicken I turned into a simple homemade soup with carrots, onion, and celery. The Arrogant Frog Chardonnay was right at home, accentuating the root vegetable flavors in the soup and pulling out the lemony sweetness of the chicken. I’d definitely put these two together again.

This is a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Viognier. This adds some white flower notes to tropical fruit and peach flavors. The bottle has a screw closure for easy opening. Just a portion of the Chardonnay grapes get aging in oak barrels before being blended with the rest of the grapes, which are finished in stainless steel tanks. This keeps the brightness, but allows for a dash of complexity. I enjoy this blend more than 100% Chard.
